As it tries to fill bus driver positions for the upcoming school year, Derby Public Schools will let members of the public test drive buses.

The USD 260 Transportation Department will sponsor two “Try-it-Out” days for people interested in trying to drive a bus. The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for hands-on exposure to decide if driving a bus could be the right job for participants.

Bus-driver trainers will be on site to speak with participants about the responsibilities bus drivers have. They will also ride along as participants operate buses.

Two sessions will be held on each of the two “Try-it-Out” days from 8 to 11 a.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 and Thursday, July 11 at Panther Stadium, 925 E. Madison Ave.
