Derby police officers and firefighters will hold the annual open house for youth from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at the Derby Police Department, 229 N. Baltimore Ave.

The event, which is ideal for children age 10 or under, will include tours of the police department and Fire Station No. 81. Participants will get their hands on police trucks, and fire vehicles and equipment.

Participants will get a chance to chat with Derby police and firefighters to learn about law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical rescue. A bike rodeo will also take place. Helmets are required.

Special guests will include McGruff the Crime Dog, Daren the Lion, Sparky the Fire Dog and Pluggie the Fire Hydrant. Snacks and drinks will be provided by Derby Walmart.
