Dust Bowl is winning theme for Kansas History Day

Pictured above is Derby North Middle School student Ryleigh Roth who was recently recognized as the Region 6 winner in the Kansas National History Day competition at Friends University.

Roth received a $150 cash prize from the Derby Historical Museum where her exhibit is on display now through Oct. 26 of this year. Her presentation was titled, "The Dust Bowl: Helping Aid and Recovery."

Roth says she learned about the Dust Bowl era from family members and spent hours researching the event in a variety of ways.

Other winners also from Derby North Middle School were second place, Kaidance Williams and third place, Rylan Syring.
