Weee Entertainment

This year’s Derby BBQ festival, Smoke on the Plains, is bringing fun, entertainment, and activities for the whole family. In addition to all the good food and music acts, there will be a carnival for kids of all ages.

Weee Entertainment will be bringing the fun to Derby in the form of rides, games, concessions and more. Bring out the whole family for a day of fun-filled activities.

Based in Ford, Kan., this family-owned company has been around since the 1940s. The carnival company is familiar with the Wichita area, having participated in many festivals and community events in neighboring towns over the years.

There will be a wide assortment of rides available. The most popular rides, according to the provider, are the Sizzler, Tilt-A-Whirl, and Rock-O-Plane for the bigger kids. The smaller kids will enjoy the tractor ride, Space Train, and horses.

For the more faint of heart, there will also be some games reminiscent of older carnival times. Visitors to the carnival can enjoy games including Skee-Ball and gun shooting while they munch on popcorn, cotton candy, and other snacks from the concession stand.

Toddlers to adults can ride and participate in most activities. The minimum height for rides will be 36", though some of the more intense rides may have other requirements such as being accompanied by an adult.

Admission to the carnival is free. Individual tickets can be purchased for rides and games for $3 each or a bundle of 10 tickets for $25. All rides require one ticket. If you are a regular carnival daredevil, you can buy an armband for $25, which allows for unlimited rides, and stay all day.

Remember to take a break from the great music and barbecue, and be sure to visit the carnival for some good old-fashioned fun.
